Not my favorite...
I've been using my own homemade scouring powder for a couple weeks now. This is not my most favorite product. It is quite heavy on the scouring, and since it contains no soap, I end up washing my sink twice ... once with the scouring powder and then I take a small squirt of my liquid soap (I've switched all liquid soap in my home to organic liquid castile soap). It takes longer, the result is about the same as when I was using comet with bleach. I'm unsure if not using chemicals is an environmental plus when you use twice as much water to do the same job. Still pondering that one. It is very cheap, though and easy to make. I keep it in a 1 qt. mason jar under my sink with one of those new plastic tops they have for them so its all one piece. Oh, I've used this in the toilets as well. It does a really terrific job at cleaning. But I miss the smell of bleach in the bowl afterward. I've been working on a toilet cleaner. Its coming along but is a slow process. Not in love with any of the tries yet.
Scouring powder:
equal parts (I started with 1/3 c of each, but you can make any quantity, just keep tightly covered):
borax
baking soda
salt (table salt, nothing fancy)
